Did something change in the software? None of the pictures posted recently are sowing up for me - but pictures in old posts show up fine.

I had intermittent issues just getting HERE with Firefox. On those occasions, switching to a different broswer was the fix.

I had this issue when I got a new desktop computer in August. I worked with a tech guy who couldn't figure it out. He thought it might be a McAfee issue. I changed a bunch of settings in both Firefox and McAfee, but it didn't seem to help. Then, all of a sudden, it was working again. What I "think" fixed it was clearing out lists of old url's from the McAfee history files. Changing the Firefox setting to always use https instead of http might have also had an effect. Also setting the Firefox history settings to always delete the history after closing.

I've done most of what has been recommended. I have very little in the way of ad-ons. If the problem effected any other site I'd assume it must be on my end but, as it doesn't, it appears there is a glitch somewhere, probably with the picture posting feature since I can see photos when they are in an attached link and the photobucket photos - in old threads - are visible.

This site uses some feature to host photos. In my case I think McAfee was blocking photos with that associated url. Everything else worked fine. Once McAfee recognized these url's as safe, the problem stopped.

Our "add image to post" uses this site to store the photo https://ibb.co Our library photos reside here https://i708.photobucket.com

There are other photos that members added before our add image mod was added, these images are residing on many different sites depending on where the member decided to store them.

Not sure but it could very well be that viruses protection has bee tightened up on the many different web browsers and virus protection software i.e Norton, McAfee etc. More than likely due to an increase of hacking, malware etc.

You may want to add these sites to your firewall, anti virus programs and web browsers.

I have checked all of our SSL certificates, all are current and up to date. I have tested our site and it is safe and loading properly. I also had our host technicians verify the site is safe, properly loading , SSL certificates are valid and up to date.

Now, some recent posts show up...i.e. the one on Brass Overlays, the Pewter nosecap and "Signed Rifle I Cannot ID". Others, like the one on the 1803 rifle, do not show up.

I'll confirm it's frustrating me too. Many or most of the threads older than 2-3 years have blanks for all their pictures. I do a google search for "southern XYZ" for example. The Google results shows a thumbnail of the rifle and a link here. I click and arrive to see just the text in the thread, and big, blank "spaces" where the pictures should be. Pretty hard to learn to identify features or ID a rifle when all you see is "here is one that shows that feature well:

In some cases the people who original posted the pix deleted them from the company that was hosting them. In some the company, "Photobucket" for one, is the problem and there is nothing we can do about it. Post one of the threads your talking about.

Without an actual URL being in the post there is nothing for our forum to display, it is like trying to display a blank page.

There are old URL's that were posted prior to me adding SSL (encryption) to our site. We went through several hundred of old HTTP posts and added the HTTPS (required for SSL) but I am sure there are some we missed. IF the photo is resident on the photo site i.e. Photobucket we should be able to fix the problem by changing the HTTP to HTTPS. If the photo is missing on the photo site we can not fix those. Some of the old posts contain photo links to photo sites that no longer exist such as Tinypic.com which has ceased operation. There are several others that escape my mind right now.

In addition, some of you are having problems viewing the newer photo URL's which is something we can not fix, it's either your web browser, firewall or your internet provider causing that problem.

I'm getting some recent photos...in the thread on brass overlays I can see the photos posted by AZShot but I can't see those posted by M Briggs.

The pictures posted by AZShot are hosted on the website "live.staticflickr.com". The pictures posted by M.Briggs and the pictures in the thread titled "An 1804 dated Harper's Ferry Rifle" are hosted on "ibb.co" and "i.ibb.co".

It appears the Internet security you have on your computer (firewall, anti-virus, browser settings, etc.) is not allowing content from the ibb.co and i.ibb.co addresses to load on your computer. I think you will need to change your security settings so that the ibb.co and i.ibb.co addresses are seen as safe.

I haven't a clue as to how to do that. I have whatever security settings the computer came with. I've never installed a firewall so it's something I've never messed with. I'll look though...maybe I can find it.

I did find it. The firewall is turned off. supposedly, there is nothing to block ibb.co. so I am at a loss as to what is going on.

This is a very frustrating business. The moderators wish we could solve this quickly but not being able to log into someone’s laptop and take controls and digging into it makes it a guessing game, much like posts on “why won’t my lock fire when in the gun?”

I'm not an expert at hosting forums, but the security settings may be within those...not the host server. Some good IT web person should be able to quickly figure it out. It might just take someone a few clicks.

I could find someone to take a look, if we don't have one. I've done recruiting for IT and have moderated and hosted a few web forums in the past. I could see if I know anyone that would do it pro bono.

I tried to add a "smooth rifle" this afternoon but find I have absolutely not the slightest idea how to actually add photos to this site. On some sites I can just copy and paste. Too simple?
I would be pleased to add photos that might be interesting here if you guys could work up something in plain, King George VI's English, no references to other web sites, please.

When you post, look below text box. Click where it says Add images to post. Then walk through it stepwise. Must have tge images on the phone, laptop, or computer you’re using when posting.
