I got a little more done on the carving. The butt stock carving and the left side of the wrist carving is complete. Just a little cleanup to do.

I finally got the carving done and have applied the first coat of stain. I think the color is going to be just right when I apply the finish.

Outstanding quality of workmanship on this piece Jim, can’t say enough about great carving and engraving work you do. Can not wait to see this finished.

That perfect carving warms the cockles of my heart. Envious of the fine lady who winds up with the final product.
You DO set the bar high for those of us wishing to emulate your work.

Mr Parker, you have taken the Lancaster style and made this rifle one of your own. Great work sir, another family heirloom will be leaving your shop. The new owner is a very lucky lady !

Thanks for all your comments. This rifle was a big challenge because of it’s size. It’s hard to make a 3/4 size rifle of a 1780’s / 1790 period rifle and get it to look proportionally correct. Thanks to Charlie Burton of FCI Barrels for making me a barrel 38” long with a 1” breech that has a very nice swamp and wound up at 3/4” at the muzzle in 32 caliber. The little rifle handles like a dream. I just found out the young lady I built this rifle for is 18 months old. Talk about a planning Dad. 😜

Here are a couple of photo's before I send this rifle off. One is of my hunting rifle beside the Lady Lancaster to give a size comparison and one of the toe plate engraving. Thanks for all the comments and I hope my next project goes as well as this one has.
