I have an original barrel with the name P. N. Bitzer Canton stamped on the side flat next to the breech. There are no other markings on the barrel. Jerry Nobel shows him in Canton Ohio in 1860. I looked him up on Ancestry and he is listed in the 1860 census as a blacksmith born in Pennsylvania in 1824. Wasn't able to find any other information on him from an earlier or later census. The barrel came off a full stock rifle and there are some hammer marks on it indicating that it was blacksmith made. Would be interested in knowing if he actually made rifles and if so, what they may have looked like or if he just made barrels.
