SOMETHING DIFFERENT

IRON MOUNTED HALF STOCK SOUTHERN RIFLE. Rifle has a RICE 42"x15/16", 45caliber barrel with a hickory under rib and brass thimbles that retain the hand made hickory rod. The front sight is German silver on double dovetail copper bases. The stock is Sugar maple with a Holsten style cheek rest and 13 1/2" length of pull. The lock is a CHAMBERS MOUNTAIN PERCUSSION and the triggers are slightly modified DAVIS. All of the mounts are hand forged. This is a new rifle, just in time for CHRISTMAS.

LARRY, as close as I can tell, the weight is 9.4 pounds.
PANZERSCHWEIN, the historical documentation of the round copper side plate { washer} dates from 2021 in my shop in N.W. Washington.

Some pieces of copper were the only salvagable items left after the Revenuers blew up my still.

I think it is Great !  ;)  That is a really nice looking rifle & a heck of a good buy for
someone wanting a southern rifle.

Is the rib riveted to the barrel?

FROZEN, the rib is fastened to the barrel in moch the same way as you would attach a upper forend.

For those of us who donít know how one attaches an upper fore end, how it it attached?

Underlugs dovetailed to the barrel....then the under barrel rib is pinned to the underlugs.

You wont be disappointed, I bought a smoothbore from Jim last year, shoots great, well balanced and I dropped a nice Turkey with it.

Ditto the sentiments y'all. I especially like the front site. Have one similar on my first smr. Yes Jim, revenoors dont leave much when they blows a still.
