Leather Wrapped Horn From The Tutorial

 The horn itself is after one on pages 242-243 of Dr. Jay Hopkins' book
"Bone Tipped & Banded Horns Pt I  As a side Pt II can now be ordered through the HCH.
 It is about 14" around the outside curve and 12 tip-to-tip. The butt is Walnut, hollowed out about 3/4s its length, it is held in by 3 Steel pins. The Tip is of two parts the tip itself is antler, the second piece is horn, it is threaded 5/8-11, the collar/strap stop is also thread to the horn.
 I'm thinking of putting a staple in the neck as a strap keeper and Brass tacks around the base. Things that may have been done to a horn when it was repaired with a leather wrap.

That came out really nice Tim! I think brass tacks would look great on this one!

Yes on the tacks and staple. Does this process take longer or shorter than scraping, sanding, and polishing? Seriously cool horn.

Great one Tim.  That horn work is graceful, and then you went the extra mile with leather. The finish looks super too. I think I prefer this one plain, but aged tacks would look good too.

 Yes there is Much more work in one of these than even a banded horn with 5 bands and a two part tip. Getting the pattern right, the rough leather fit, punching the holes, etc... takes some time. Add that getting the horn thinned down, shaped, trimmed, making a tip, collar, butt and putting it together.

Well executed Tim, I'm sure you had to have alot of patience while building this style of horn. Nicely done.
