Military Style Horn***Ten Pix May Take Awhile To Load***
« on: December 04, 2021, 11:08:59 PM »
It comes in right at 12 1/2" around the outside curve, the base is Walnut held by 4 Iron nails it is about 8 3/4s" around. The plug is also Walnut and threaded 1-8, it may be a little long but I feel safer with it threading further in to the base, it is also a bit longer. The Brass tip is from "The Rifle Shop", it was a rough casting supplied by the customer, emmagee and assembled by Jim Spray. (Jim also makes beautiful similar Brass tips of his own) Anyway, it is attached with 3 Iron nails. To get the eye hooks to look right I cut about 3/16ths off the eye and closed them up, the one at the base screws into the base and for the one at the tip I used an undersized bit and the screw goes into the horn on the opposite side.
Color is a mix of Dyes and shoe polish, I left the tip bright to darken with use.
Thought you may want to see the original, last 5 Pix.

Tim,

That's a good looking horn.  Also, thank for sharing the photos of the original as well.

Always interested in seeing what you will post next.

The new one pays a wonderful homage to the original. As usual Tim a wonderful horn that will make the new owner proud.

That is so very cool Tim, and totally outside the "usual".   Well done my friend.
