My New Bear Pistol
« on: December 05, 2021, 02:57:40 AM »
Hi  :)

This beautiful percussion bear pistol and holster built by David Rase. David is a nice man and a fantastic builder, it arrived today and wow it is beautiful. There was enough daylight left to snap the above photo along with my new little day horn and the pouch is by G. Elsenbeck. Currently waiting on balls from Track and plan to do a shooting review soon. Thanks!

Can you tell what the under-rib material is?  I’m thinking about trying a wooden rib on a future build.  Great pistol by the way!

The hollow brass under rib was machined from a piece of brass bar stock and soldered to the barrel.

No sir.

I remember the thread on that one.  I think that's one of the coolest ANY kind of pistol rig I've seen.  Love the brass rib, the brass lockplate, the square drum...  Just fantastic overall.  You got a good one!

That's a super nice pistol in every respect.  But you'll find it to be a poor pocket pistol.  ::)

Wow, what a beauty!  Congratulations to Panzerschwein for his acquisition, and kudos to David Rase for building such an interesting piece!

What's the story on the lock?  I see the brass lockplate, but there is something unusual about the hammer... I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just looks a little different from the norm, somehow.

Best regards,

Notchy Bob
