Monthly club shoot
« on: December 06, 2021, 04:54:12 AM »
Smoky Hollow had our monthly shoot today. Weather was not the best for sure. Pellety snow blowing sideways, very overcast, about 31 degrees. Everything got wet, I was just glad all my shots went off.

Myself at the loading bench, firing line is to the right.

Taking a shot at a 25 yard target.

After the shoot.

31 wasn't bad, until you kick in the 20 to 30mph wind and the soaking wet snow. I'd rather have had 15 degrees and dry.

That's more snow than we will probably get all winter here in the valley!

Good to see like minded folks with enough salt to get out and keep the tradition alive. We also shot; 32 degrees, 3 inches of snow but no wind. With bald eagles cruising above the Flathead River our potluck lunch at the fire was 5 dutch ovens and a big pot of coffee. No mosquitos, stink bugs, yellow jackets or tourists. Just right.

I am usually the only guy in period dress. Maybe one or two more when the weather is nicer. We shoot the first Sunday of every month, have only canceled due to lightning and one shoot when the high temp was 15 below. Any day in the woods shooting flinters is a good day.

Sounds great.
You could ALL shoot the postal match, that day as one event.
