Elk Rifle Idea Question

My flinter weighs 9 pounds with a 40 inch barrel.  The only time weight was ever an issue was when I had to pack out a quarter or the wet hide and horns and carry the rifle as well.  The sheer joy of the hunt and its success offset the weight issue, except maybe on the last trip back to camp.

Built an elk rifle for a customer and he uses it nearly every year.... it weighs  8 lbs, is .54 cal and has a 35" lg tapered bbl.....1" at the breech and 7/8" at the muzzle. Attached a sling which to me is a necessary item on an elk rifle. It's a LHed rifle and is shown below. The shiny finish was what he wanted and evidently doesn't scare away the elk because he's shot a few w/ this rifle.....Fred
