13/16 under rib on a 3/4 barrel

Would it be much trouble to use a 13/16 under rib on a 3/4 barrel? Could it be filed off to fit? Never done one and had a itch for a 40 cal half-stock squirrel gun.

Don't see why not. Wouldn't take much, seems to me.

Yes.  But rather than file off the overhanging edges, remove metal from the flat attachment side of the rib making it less deep, and as you file into the tapered section, the base will become narrower...only has to go about 1/32" on each edge. Or a combination of filing both areas...a lot of original pistols have ribs that are tapered, closer to the muzzle than at the other end.

I once used a rib for a 1" barrel on a 15/16 barrel and did as Taylor outlined and it worked out fine.

I recently did exactly that.  My barrel tapers to less than 3/4".   Be sure and check the depth you want for you layout.  I am working on a pistol that uses a thin barrel.  IT would have looked better with a thicker rib.  I did file the edges off to match the barrel taper.  It worked fine.  I did figure out what width I needed before I filed.  I filed the calculated amount off each side and check my measurements as I went.   Be sure an use a steel rod that matches the rib concavity when you secure it in the vice to prevent damaging the edge.
