It appears on the original that the toe plate was filed on the outside to make it more flexible? Notice the step down in the toe plate in relation to the bottom line of the stock. I didn't comment on this sooner as I don't have much knowledge on BC patch boxes and I don't even know if the toe plate is original to the rifle? I'm not even sure if I'm seeing this correctly so please take my comment with a grain of salt.
