That's cool Bob. The blade shape reminds me of a knife I saw at a vineyard in France where it was used to splice root stock or trim vines. Any idea if it could be an old French pattern?

I'll be looking for you and the crewe at Jim's AL-KY Rifle Show next week. Safe travel my friend!

Carl, I just received the photos from my son in law a few moments ago. I will see the knife in hand tomorrow.
Look forward to visiting with you at the Ala. show next week my friend.

Yes, it's an old pruning knife, often used in vineyards, etc. About 50 years ago, my wife worked with a 70+ year old nursery plant grower who still was using a similar one. Yours is a nice, collectable vintage piece Note that the bolster area may have a makers stamp on it.

This sort of knife is called "Hippe" or "Heppe", bigger knifes of this pattern  are called "Gertel" in Switzerland

Perhaps Turkish like this one? A quick google for Turkish pruning knife will get you dozens of results. Looks like they are still made too.
