I like the folksy engraving.  It’s nice and bold too.

Did you build that shapely pistol too Bob?  The fraktur chest is mighty nifty too.

Hi, yes I made the pistol recently. It was a kit from MBS. The chest I made and decorated (it's a shoe chest).

I love this horn.

In Southern Germany (Bavaria) Austria and Switzerland  furniture has been decorated like this and this type of painting  is called "Bauernmalerei" ("Farmer Painting") Birds and flowers have been popular motifs.

This type of painting of furniture had his origins in the 18th century, and became popular again in the 1980ies

I once read, that  german emigrants brought this style of furniture painting to Pennsylvania.

Yes that style of “folk art” certainly was popular in Pennsylvania, commonly referred to as “Pennsylvania Dutch” folk art. The styleized birds were called “diselfink ” or something similar (probably a derivation if “Thistle Finch”) It’s very pleasant form of decoration I think!

Diselfink sounds very similar to Distelfink (Carduelis carduelis) also called Stieglitz, in England Goldfinch.
