Gentlemen,
Having a great time making rr pipes for my first build, however, I'm having difficulty getting the bump up I want on the extension. All suggestions appreciated.

Search 'ramrod pipe tutorial', there is some info there. Sometimes I solder the extension on and file to shape.

Check out Clay Smith's youtube video on making entry pipes. I ain't smart enough to link it.
But, maybe I is.

I’ve used this simple set up in the past.
It amounts to a two piece wooden die that the tail is pounded into with a rounded off piece of steel rod.
Then the outside shape is refined with files.

Shown is a Bucks County set of RR pipes. The entry pipe has an elongated finial which is soldered onto the pipe. If it had a regular length finial , I'd make it one piece. The step down from the final to the pipe is .04,,,,or mat'l thickness. If a radius is wanted as viewed from the side. a form block would have to be made and the brass peened to form wharever shape is in the form block. The form block shown is excellent.....Fred
