And I thought the big rock candy mountain sounded like a cool place...

I need to head west, where matchlocks grow on trees!

I'm sure we could.  It is available .  I am building a smaller 20g for myself.  I even have a lifetime supply (5 lbs) of potassium nitrate which I will share.  Got to use hemp cord.  I tried cotton and it did not work well at all.  Ordered hemp rope and had instantaneous ignition every time.

I’ve been looking to get a matchlock for some time now. If anyone is considering building one and then selling, keep me in mind.

Many years ago, Justin Urbantas of this forum, shot a whitetail with a matchlock. He pictured it here, but I don't remember where.
Perhaps a search of some sort would find it.

Ahh- thanks for looking, Tim. That's unfortunate. I/we haven't seen Justin around for quite a while
& I have no contact information on him.

David, that is one heck of a beautiful piece.  Color is fantastic, fit and finish great.

Appears to be one of the original "thumbhole" stocks!
