They look good, that braid looks well done, it is not easy to do on fine a fine strand like that.

Dick probably shot that elk with a selfbow and stone points.  Nice job with all of it.

Thanks, Tim. I wish I could say that the tether was braided but is actually 2 narrow longitudinal cuts in the tag end and two in the tether. The two ends then were alternately feed through the slits. This is a sturdy attachement and looks better than a knot.

Keith,
The elk antler was a shed. Dick took pity on me and sent it when I told him I wanted to make a pulverflaschen.

I was going by the Braiding books I have, I have used it to attach a lash on quirts. It has a neat look to it.

Beautiful work, Tim. Any recommendation for a braiding book?
Thanks, Marc for the encouragement.

I cannot say enough about Gail Hought her books are very well done step-by-step instruction:

 https://hought.com/

Another source of books is the David Morgan Co:

https://www.davidmorgan.com/shop/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=books

He has listed there an Encyclopedia of Braiding, I have that book but found it very difficult to understand the procedures. Later I found out that some pages are mixed up. Another one by the same author that is Ok is "How To Make Cowboy Horse gear." A little easier to understand but I would not recommend either for a beginner.
If you want to learn and have it explained in detail but in an easy to understand format Gail's books are the way to go. She has the basics and then shows how to use them on a project. Once you get the hag of it you can make what you want. I have always used Kangaroo for braid but it is getting hard to find and expensive (What isn't)
I just talked to her and she said if you order more than one she will give you a discount.

Thanks for the references, Tim. I got Hought's basic book ordered and after looking over the website I hope I don't get carried away with making horse tack and then having to go out and buy a horse. ;)

Not sure what to call this but scabbard will probably do. I realized I really didn't want things hanging from straps or a ring on a bag so made this so that I can simply stow the pick and brush in a pocket in the bag. Plus it protects me from getting stabbed and the bristles from damage.

Ron-it’s Turkish walnut. I posted a priming flask made from another scrap here some time ago. I only have a couple of pieces left.
