Flint Longrifle Building Class Indiana
« on: March 05, 2022, 07:12:15 AM »
Is there any classes around Indianapolis on building a flint longrifle from a kit or scratch?  I am a wood worker but am also 76 so can't move like a young guy of 50 so may take me longer than a week to inlay, carve and finish.  Would like a class where I have instruction on metal finish, carving and inlaying.  Inletting depending on who's kit or scratch build will determine how much instruction I will need.  Wood finishing should be the only thing I know a lot about.  Have restocked several doubles and Marlins over the years.

We teach Kibler kit building and a build from a plank class. We have two classes already filled; I think the first open class is in August. The class coordinator should ring in here soon.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

We actually have a couple of slots open April 10-14 for those who want to assemble a Kibler kit.
There are some openings for a stock carving and inlay class on July 10-14.
We also have some openings for another Kibler kit class on August 21-26.
You can send me a personal message and I’ll be happy to fill in the details.

I also have a Kibler Colonial kit for sale (good wood but not an upgrade)Maple stock, 54 cal., no patchbox. $1275.00. I’m not in possession of it currently. I’ll be picking it up in 2 weeks.
