Custom Built Pistol Case
« on: March 05, 2022, 11:09:37 PM »
A very good friend (and my shooting coach) Dave aka @dave951 built me a really cool pistol case for my French Dragoon pistol. He uses a variety of machines including a CNC machine that he programmed and carved the top of my case with.
It is Red Oak and really strong. He also included some very sturdy solid brass hinges for it.
I spent some time and customized the case, installing a compartment divider, making a Black Walnut powder flask, making a small box insert, staining it and lining it with felt.
As far as I know, not many folks are producing custom cases like this so I feel really lucky.
Here are some photos of my new Dragoon Pistol Case.

Thanks Jbigly- I will need to make double sure it’s cleaned well after shooting it and putting it in the case!

Glad you're going to be shooting it. Sure deserves to be shot--a lot!
BTW--Looks like a nice wood powder flask in the case, too. Your friend make that, too? You are rightfully pleased with all of them.
Very cool. --JB

jb, yup I really enjoy shooting this pistol a lot!  Best fun is with #7 shot at tin cans or water bottles. I want to do some squirrel hinting with it in the back woods also.
That Black Walnut powder flask is something I made yesterday to fit into the compartment of the case. It holds about 1/4 lb of powder which is plenty for an afternoon's fun.

Sorry Bob, but that pistol isn't truly French until you drop it once.   ;D ; ;D

Cool. I didn't realize that you had made the Walnut flask. Very nice work. You should consider making a few and selling them. -- JB

Dave Miller does nice work. I hope he posts photos of the wood case he made for a Whitworth Rifle he just completed.
