John Bull Signature
« on: March 07, 2022, 09:10:21 PM »
Does anyone have a picture of John Bull's signature on one of his rifles? If so, could you share?  Would like to know if it is stamped or in script.
Thanks

Which John Bull do you want? The earlier John that settled Bull's Gap then worked primarily in Kentucky and used a small, neat script signature with full first and last names... or the later John Valentine Bull of Bull's Gap and then Warrior's Mountain in Alabama? John Valentine Bull used a silver barrel plate with large, neatly engraved print-style letters, "John Bull," usually followed by the customer's name. Jerry Noble illustrated a couple of John V. Bull's signatures in his paperback "Notes on Southern Longrifles" books. Here's the earlier Kentucky John Bull's signature. If you have this one, let me know.

Thanks Shelby. I've seen this one.  Looking for the John V. Bull signature.  I have Jerry's book so will take a look.
Thanks
