Ron Scott sent me an image of an early turnscrew which inspired me to make one.
Here is the original

Pretty cool, almost looks like it could be used as a key/spanner for a Wheelock.

Tim-your observation is interesting as the clover cutout is a curiosity that isn't particularly artistic. Maybe it did serve some kind of function but can't imagine what it might have been. Beer bottle opener for forest dwarfs?

Maybe it was made for or by an Irishmen, then the beer opener idea would be a secondary use

Scott-I traced three 1/4" touching circles on the blank, center drilled each circle and then drilled each of the circles out with a 1/4" twist drill.
