18th century turnscrew interpretation
« on: March 07, 2022, 11:05:17 PM »
Ron Scott sent me an image of an early turnscrew which inspired me to make one.
Here is the original

Roughed out blank.

Pretty cool, almost looks like it could be used as a key/spanner for a Wheelock.

Very cool!  I really like vintage turnscrews and modern interpretations.  This one is really special.

Tim-your observation is interesting as the clover cutout is a curiosity that isn't particularly artistic. Maybe it did serve some kind of function but can't imagine what it might have been. Beer bottle opener for forest dwarfs?

Maybe it was made for or by an Irishmen, then the beer opener idea would be a secondary use ;)

Curious as to how you accomplished the clover shaped cut out?  8)

Scott-I traced three 1/4" touching circles on the blank, center drilled each circle and then drilled each of the circles out with a 1/4" twist drill.

Lovely turnscrew.  It does need a Guinness to pose with in the photo though.   :-)  Beautiful work.  God Bless,   Marc
