Western NC rifle and set
« on: March 12, 2022, 06:36:38 PM »
My personal NC set is complete! I spent my college years in the greater Cleavland County area (Gaston, Lincoln, Catawba, Burke, Cleavland, Rutherford, and McDowell counties) and always wanted a long rifle set up from that general area. Well, its taken a few years, but here it is:

Bag is my recreation of the McGlamery bag from Rutherford County (today the McGlamery homestead would be in McDowell county) Horn is by Tim Crosby, strap by Pam Hutton.

Rifle is the Kibler SMR in .36 (approximating a NC Appalachian School rifle) patchbox and finishing by Jack Garner. (The wood was ordered as "plain maple" but its the fanciest plain maple ive seen)

Rifle shoots incredibly well. 40gr of 3f scheutzen, .350 round ball, .020 pre-lubed patch. Easy to clean, balances perfectly and a great sparker. My new favorite!

Nicely done rifle!  I really like the bag and horn with it.  The Kibler kits are outstanding and the performance is awesome.
kind regards, heinz
