Any idea on this powder/ priming flask?

Hi all,
New member here with a old powder
Flask I did some reading up on these
But was not able to figure out whether
It's a genuine antique powder flask.
And if the date engraved on it, 1763, was when this was made.  It's a beautiful piece and looks to have been made from horn, wood and either  bone or ivory.
Appreciate your help in trying to identify this powder flask.!

Ron Scott had a buddy doing the exact same type of horn. I have one with a similar date. I’m sorry but I won’t be able to post it for you until tomorrow. My best guess is that this is a contemporary piece.

Yes Sir it is, I have seen many of his horns and thats his mark! the spout is probably turned antler.

I believe that this style of horn/flask is referred to as a "banjo" horn.  Yes, very much a contemporary horn and several horners make these.  One that comes to mind is Wild Willy Frankfort.  Info should be on the HCH guild website, www.hch.org

The Steve Vance identification is correct. He often has some accoutrements to send with me to the CLA show. When some of his family obligations are done, he will hopefully make an appearance.
