Thought I would bore you all with my new Jaeger. This project revolved around a plank of Paradox walnut. It was long enough to accommodate a 25 inch pipe. I had Ed Rayl make me a .61 cal swamped barrel which he based on a Pistor pattern. The lock is a Chambers round faced Jaeger.
I forged the butt plate and chiseled the side plate. I had never done either in steel. Also made the nose cap and the toe plate and the sights.
The thimbles have been laying around in a drawer, it was time to use them.
I had forged a trigger guard, but it did not seem robust enough. So I used this one I got from MBS.
I was hoping to make a rifle to be indicative of what a provincial smith might have made.
Ultimately this is a hunting rifle which will lend itself to Midwest tree stand hunting.
I am looking for a piece of red leather for the flint. That is why I didn't have one on.
