SMR build photo update

The front finial of the trigger guard looks off center to me. A little heavy to the side plate side.

Looks good to me.  Just measuring the picture, it looks like the TG  could  be off center a very small amount, but I think a few  careful strokes on that side  on the bottom  half with some sandpaper would eliminate that effect.

This isa Kibler SMR. How can the trigger guard be off center.

Just measuring on my computer screen has it 1.5mm off center.  Not enough to bother with.  I'm with Dave.  I wouldn't worry about it.  You'll never see it from a moving horse.

Only accurate way is measure it live to avoid camera angle distortion.

I’m pretty sure it’s the angle of the picture. I was concerned with showing the bolster to barrel fit. Trying to get the tightest fit possible. So far there are no comments, I take that as no news is good news. I will post better pictures of the touch hole. Thank you for asking.

What’s been shown looks good.  Can always deepen pan area “if” there is any issues with ignition.

Symmetry in manufactured goods, was of no concern before the industrial revolution. Look closely at originals, you will find asymmetry is the norm.

The issue with the trigger guard being off-center slightly is my fault. When I opened the shipping crate and saw the level of precision in this project, I knew there was no way for me to maintain that precision with my limited experience. I am committed to not allowing my limited knowledge to hinder me in learning while doing my best not to discredit Jim Kiblers' excellent SMR kit. I apologize if I am aggravating or seem to lack confidence in my posts and pictures. I have always trained folks in my profession (electrical & electronic systems) to understand the only dumb question is one you don't ask. I don't want to ask a dumb question! Thank you to everyone who has and will give critique for my SMR project in the future.

This is where we want the touch hole to be.  This idea of it only being good level with the top of the pan has been proven to be BS.  See Larry Pletcher's testing.  I believe his website is blackpowdermag.  If I recall correctly, ignition was found to be slightly faster with the hole at the bottom of the pan.  It's amazing how beliefs can get started with little footing and then can last and last.  He also found ignition to be faster with the priming piled against the touch hole.
