Calvary Longrifles April Rifle Building Class
« on: May 08, 2022, 02:18:28 AM »
We had a fantastic April class with 3 students. I had two returning students and 1 new student for this class. Steve Christopher and Scottie Rodrick were my returning students and it was good to see them again. Steve was back to finish up installing a patch box, wrist inly and a star cheek inlay in his rifle and Scottie was starting a new Isaac Haines styled parts set that was part of a collection of parts that were put together by Frank Bartlett and Freddy Harrison 30+ odd years ago. One of the special things about this parts set is that it has one of Don Getz 38" "C" weight 50 caliber barrels. This will be a special rifle when Scottie gets it complete. My new student was Daniel Boling. Many of you know Daniel as a horn maker but he switched gears this past week and put together a Kibler SMR and a Colonial rifle kit and did very nicely for a horn guy. ;D

I forgot to get pictures of Scottie's project before he left for home but here are pictures of Steve's and Daniel's projects.

I have driven down to Jim's from PA several times.  Jim is a great host and teacher. I can assure you that it is well worth the trip there.
