Percussion era horn with scalloped plug and pewter spout
« on: May 15, 2022, 04:29:00 PM »
This one doesn’t fit with my “big, early, and plain” preference in original horns but was so darned cute I bought it. Small horn, still airtight.

That is really neat.  Like maybe the guy was sitting in the woods hunting and whittled that design?  Or was it made like that from the start?

The maker must have worked the horn edge and domed plug at the same time as the edge of the horn is worked in concert with the plug scalloping.

Nice horn Rich! Thank you for showing it around. Are my eyes haywire or does it have a pewter spout? Two nice features, spout and butt plug and we must not forget the drawer pull for a fastener. Thanks again.

Yep, pewter spout; the maker put a little extra into this one.

Rich, is the plug held with metal or wood pins. Thanks
