 8) 8).. greetings, Molly and Al,.. !!! ... good to see you're still in the hunt and are having success as well,... !! ... knowing the history of this rifle, and a couple previous owners who have handled and examined it, I will concur with their attributions,... a couple "markers" that Wm Douglas used on many of his signed rifles are the pointed trigger-guard extensions, and well done poured nose caps,.. he also used mostly black walnut in gun stocking,... I have no idea why some old gunsmiths signed  some guns and didn't sign others, but comparing certain features, we can be comfortable attributing their work,... Well done,.. !!! ... regards,... CCF

I had that rifle in my hand a couple of weeks ago as we compared it to my signed Douglas which is quite different in many respects so perhaps mine is the other one from Sullivan or Campbell county.  Despite all of that, I near fell in love with the rifle that is now yours.  Very nice, slim long rifle with a great nose cap.  Cherish her!
