Fowler ID
«

I have this fowler with no markings. Nothing on the barrel or lock. No marks under the barrel or inside of lock plate. Bore measures 0.528 and is 31 inches long. The muzzle cap is bone as well as the ramrod tip. The lock has a safety lever that I never saw before.
I would appreciate any information on likely area of origin, possible age or anything else you can tell me.
Thanks in advance
Jim

"Probably" German. Ca. 1850-60.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Thanks guys!
I had suspected German but am glad to have other more knowledgeable opinions.
It is very light weight maybe made for a woman or youngster.

I have a couple of muzzle loading shotguns with similar types of barrel breech and lock safety both have the Belgian proof marks and are both doubles .
