Something a little different

Finished this up recently. It's a bit different in that the barrel is an old original smooth bore. This was purchased from Ken Netting probably a dozen years ago and just sat around. After many years I had the opportunity to visit Ken and he showed me the basics of hand inletting a barrel. I inlet it, reshaped the breech plug and again it sat in the corner for another three to four years. Last year at the Log Cabin trade fair he asked how far along with this project I was. I was in a pickle, so I cut in the ramrod groove and started making plans. At the second Fall Frolic I picked up a lock fron Dennis Priddy, I believe it is hand made and it sparks like crazy. The trigger guard is from Mike Brooks, the stock was a slab from Henry Overmeyer (he has passed away and I truly miss him) the butt plate is an old Reeves Gohring, the sideplate is hand made and the engraving of the deer comes from Norwegian folk art. I shot it this pass Saturday and for an old barrel it didn't do too bad, but I need to shoot it some more

I really like the scraped finish you did on that.

That’s a really handsome gun! I love everything about it! Really unique with great mountings. That side plate is the using on the cake.

Really like the color variations you brought out in the wood.
