Had a great ONTARIO turkey season.
Tagged out. TWO birds in FIVE days of hunting
The first trip to Ontario was to visit Peter Kelly.
It was mostly a period hunt. Rainy weather prevented video camera use on day one.
The day I shot the first bird. We wanted to do a video. Peter and his wife Cathy were able
to put something together after the fact. I have included a link to the video.
The gun is a John Bergmann Issac Haines style gun.
38" Colerain turkey choke barrel. The same barrel that Matt talks about in his post.
I have killed 20 birds so far with this gun. It is a turkey killing machine.
My load is 80gr of FFFG and 1-1/2 oz #6 shot.
Two of my 20 birds were at 42 yards and One at 35.
The 42 yard birds were the result of range estimation error. I just got a little too excited.
I like to keep the range to 35 or less.
The second hunt is not period. This was day two of a three day hunt
I was hunting with a friend and we were visiting my Son and his wife and my two grand sons on the trip.
4 Jakes came in and all four tried to mount the hen decoy at the same time. I had to wait for one to step clear
of the group. Just to give you an idea of the chaos, I could have killed all four jakes and the decoy with one shot.
I missed the previous two turkey seasons due to this Covid mess. It sure was great to get back in the woods.
