Rifle Shoppe Kit Question

Has anyone on the forum ever assembled a 1763-1766 French Infantry Musket using the parts set sold by The Rifle Shoppe?  If so, do you have any pictures, opinions and/or information you care to share as to your experience with the build? I am considering ordering the parts set with one of their assembled locks, and am basically looking for thoughts from those who may have assembled one previously.

No. Just wondering if anyone else here had assembled one to get some insight on what they think about the kit, lock, etc.

I wouldn't use the wood from any of their kits. the lock is ALWAYS too far back and the vent ends up at least 1/4" into the breech plug.

Do they offer lock areas without inletting? Ive had kits from sitting Fox with minimal milling after recommendations from this forum, I wonder if the rifle shoppe can accommodate that request.

I ordered one of their "Clark" rifle tangs in January 2021. Still waiting.

Call them up and see if they have the parts in stock. On the other hand, you could give a go at building the American Charleville pattern (1795) musket. If you are interested in American used muskets of the Revolution, another musket you could try is the Spanish Model of 1752/57. It for the most part looks like a French M1846 with a few changes. They did have most of those parts in stock when I was there in April.

Most all of the machine carve inlets on my TRS Queen Anne Musket kit had at least some oversize cuts to them. Some were way out of wack sized.
I peened out the metal on some parts to fit the inlet. Others I inletted extra wood in to fill gaps & make things fit.
The sideplate I made an entire new one as the casting supplied was just not making it. Trying to peen it's odd shape out resulted in it going off in more directions than ever..

Just finishing up the lock now.  Almost done with her.
With all the wood needing gaps filled in, metal stretched and fitted, etc,  I'm feeling more like I rescued and restored the thing than built it from a 'kit'.
