Bag #48 Black Shield Shaped Flap
« on: May 30, 2022, 08:22:30 PM »
I just finished up another "worn-in" bag.  This one is 3-4 ounce W&C veg tanned cowhide lined in pigskin suede.  It's a very tough combination.  The welt and rolled top edge are buckskin.  Straps are 4-5 ounce 1" wide veg tanned.  All hand saddle stitched in 4-ply waxed Irish linen.  Wrought iron buckle.  9" wide at widest point by 8" tall.  I hope y'all enjoy it.  I need to get on the ball for CLA after Knoxville's fun.  My apologies for the last photo being out of focus.  God Bless,   Marc

Seriously nice bag, and I love ones with built in patina. Look forward to meeting you at the CLA show. Making the trip for the first time from Oregon.

Thank you all sincerely for the kind words.

P.W., this one is of normal design and construction.  I varied the flap style to make sure it didn't look like another.  I try for something that is "plausibly" a design that existed in the day.  The simpler the design, the less chance of it being not HC.

Jerry, I know your leatherwork, and was greatly pleased that you purchased my bag in Knoxville.  That is quite a compliment.  Truth be told, I was keeping that one for myself but my wife told me to take it to the show.  She wisely said, "you can always make another for yourself later".    :-)

Mike, I will look forward to meeting you in person at CLA.  You riding across the country with David Rase?

Many thanks, and God Bless,   Marc
