Horn W/Three Bands & A Tin Tip
« on: June 06, 2022, 04:10:31 PM »
It is about 10 1/4" around the outside curve and 7 1/2 tip-to-tip. The Butt is Apple and held by 8 wooden pegs. It is tapped 1/2"-8 for the Hickory finial. The tip is Tin (think of it as a replacement for an Antler tip that was lost) it is held by 2 nails and one leg of thee staple. The 3 bands were heated and pressed on, they are secured by 3 Steel pins each. The body was scrapped then colored with AF, Brown shoe polish and buffed with a brush.

That is a beautiful horn Tim.  The metal tip is nifty, and the bands and base all look great.  The screw-out plug is gravy on top.  Nice and strong looking horn.   Best wishes, and God Bless,   Marc

Again a horn, a bag or a rifle that tells a story is always a plus for me. You can almost imagine the original owner figuring out how to repair his horn with what he had on hand.
Nice work Tim.
