Couple of Franken bags for Kempton
« on: July 26, 2022, 04:33:37 PM »
It's been awhile since I've posted here.  Sad to say but kind of lost interest for a year or so in sewing leather.  But the upcoming Kempton show has forced me to whip up a few items for our club table (Lancaster Muzzleloading Rifle Association).
In an attempt for something different and simple, I made a couple patterns for larger belt bags.  I either made a mistake tracing or cutting the pattern for the one or the heavy leather took on another shape after aging and staining but the front panel didnt match up with the rear on the one.  The back is made of 5-6 oz and the front panel is 3 oz.  Not wanting to waste it, I stitched her up and found her to be to be a little cattywampus but also somewhat attractive.  I guess I don't mind a little imperfection in this hobby sometimes😁.  These are the first bags I ever stained before stitching so that was a little different.
The little guy is intentionally a Franken bag as I was trying to use up some bark tan deer scraps.  The rear is bark tan goat so I thought an interesting combination.
If you're at the show, stop by and say hi at tables 40 and 41.  Always nice to meet ALR members and put a face to the name.

Scott

Thanks Cory.  The small one I donated to the silent auction and someone on this site got it for a very good price.  The odd shaped belt bag sold along with two other shoulder bags.  I had a very good show!

Scott earned the Madison Grant award for one of his bags at Kempton this past weekend. Congratulations Scott.

Thanks Brett!  I'm still reeling from it.  You were pretty well decorated yourself.  You're doing some nice.  Keep it up.

Rayant, enjoy it.  Makes a nice companion to a shoulder bag.

This is my bag that won the Madison Grant award.  Needless to say I was shocked and honored when my name was called.  Many of the judges came up to me personally and told me I knocked it out.  I draw my inspiration from the works of Lawrence Fiorillo.  His work is impeccable in my eyes and I own one of his bags.  If it wasn't for Art Riser sending me a PM about 1.5 years ago when I posted it telling me it tickled his fancy, I probably would not have entered it.
