Salvaged a mistake (one of many)  is best I can say. The whole gun was an experiment in gun building though I never intended Stainless Steel to be part of the test, but the whole story is for another post.
The price of eggs got so darn high, I bought chickens......

I did a similar Faux Pas - fab'd a Percussed Hammer outta scrap stainless (unintentional).  The advice here was to heat the part dull red, air cool then use Mark Lee Express Blue or Brown to color. Worked just fine.
