How about some examples of spotter targets for shooting over the log?

I've never done any chunk gun shooting but would like to try it.

Any discussion would be appreciated.

Any size,shape and color that you can line your sights up to .I use a comma pin front sight and the spotter is a round white disk on a black background . The pin is centered on the disk with just a small amount of white showing all around the pinhead with it centered in the rear sight. Paul GRIFFITH 517-486-4110 can set you up with a set of these .Alot of chunk shooters use them.

Like Eric said, the pin head with a circular spotter works well for a lot of us. However anything that will give you a consistant sight picture every time you pull down on the target will work. Try several and see what you like the best. You may also want to use different colored paper to mount your sighter on. In bright sun I like to use light blue paper, it gives a better contrast, for me, between the background and sighter. The main thing is to have fun.

Centershot.....back when I was shooting, I had square, partridge type sights on my rifle.  The front sight was about .100
wide, and this equates to about 4" at 60 yards.    I made a sighter target by applying a 4" x 4" black square on my target
and would merely take a 6 o'clock hold on it.  You want your gun to shoot somewhere other than right on your sighter...
it can be high, low, right or left......you don't want to obliterate your sighting point...........Don
