Hey Bob Roller lock builder question

Hello Bob, Happy 4th o July. Hope you both are well. I just purchased a rifle built by Ed Rayle ca 1982, for State Offhand percussion match winner.
Inside lock is name L Carver stamped. It's a nice little perc lock, not as refined as yours, but in nearly unused condition.
I was wondering what history you may be able to share on this.
It's nice to have this sweet rifle back in the hills where it came from.

The name is familiar but I can't recall ever meeting him.I THINK it was W.A.Carver but no recall of where he was.L.Carver is an unknown to me but he must have had some skill if he made a good usable lock.Back in the 50's there were a number of people that came and went in the area of muzzle loading guns and the word "went' is the operational one here.Bill Large was swindled by a fast talking man years ago and when I exposed him he threatened me.I forget his name.He got away with a few barrels but left this area.This swindler used the name "Tom"but again,i have no recall of the last name.

Don't know.I have been involved in muzzle loaders since 1951 and too many have come and gone to keep track of.
The ones I really remember are E.M.Farris,Wes Kindig,Turner Kirkland."Bull"Ramsey.Willy Boitnott*Bill Large,Tom Dawson
and John Baird.There are others but these are prominent in my memories.Willy Boitnott worked in the armory at Friendship
and was at every shoot for years.He could and would repair some of the most ridiculous bits and parts that were brought in.
I will still tell one and all he worked on ll of this and got it working and I always said he was a way better mechanic than I ever was.
Getting back to "Doc"Carver,was there an exhibition shooter by that name that could fire a revolver upside down and make a good
score?
