Flintlock Match Rifle

Here is one that I finished today. A plain #1 sugar maple stock from Dunlap that was stained with LMF Lancaster Maple and finished with Tried and True varnish oil. A very solid piece of wood.  The barrel is 36" long and is a .40 caliber Rice Match barrel that is 7/8" ATF. The rear sight is a Kensight adjustable silhouette sight. The trigger is a Siler double trigger, single lever that must be set before cocking. The lock is a small Siler. The build style is loosely based off the Lancaster school with some of my personal touches added.

Really nice. Look forward to seeing some clover leaf five shot groups. I appreciate the effort it takes to add the incised lines, a nice touch.

Buttplate looks like a copy of the C. Sharps on my original rifle.  I think Treebone Carving now makes a copy.

Thank you Mike, it needed something added. Bob, thanks and the butt plate is a Sharps style that Pecatonica sells as a shotgun butt plate.

Ok it is a nice-looking purpose-built rifle. My question is what type of flintlock competition are you intending to use it for? I'm not familiar with the Kensight you placed on it. It looks a lot like the Bomar.

Alacran,  I can shoot this rifle in any NMLRA match except those requiring fixed or no rear sights.  Most of their matches allow this type of sight.  The  Kensight is very much like a Bomar, except that the back of the Bomar is usually meant to hang down below the back of a barrel/frame.  This sight bottoms out level with the top flat.
