ID on fusil de chasse

I've come on to a fusil de chasse that was bought in the states and imported to Aus.

Can anyone ID the lock or the make. As I understand it there are no makers marks on the gun.

Most likely thick came from Track of the Wolf. Gun may be a kit gun.

Hi,
The lock is a Davis "Tulle".  I hate that big ugly notch cut in for the flint cock.  There is no need for if you know how to shape the stock correctly.  That said, the TOO big flint cock on these Davis locks need a lot of clearance.  I appears to be made by someone who is competent but whose knowledge of French trade guns comes from the Track of the Wolf catalog. I have not seen an original example with a side plate like that.  All of the ones I've seen were solid with no piercings.  However, TOW sells the plate as a "Tulle" component so maybe they have some reference for it.

They made quite a few as a production item back in the day. It’s an approximation of a Tulle fusil, with various choices made. If you’re simply looking for a shooting gun of French styling of the mid 1700s, it could work for you. I’d you prefer close copies of originals, those are out of your budget.

They were fair guns back in the day. Seems like everyone had  one. The lock is a little slow in my observation but they usually work.

Yeah, but the lock was still made by Davis.

If anyone really wants to be authentic with a fusil de chasse they’d need a lock with no internal bridle and no touchhole liner. I think it’s likely the lock on the CenterMark gun is equal or superior to those on originals.

The Davis lock may be fine.  I usually have to work them over a bit but it should work well.  You asked if anyone could identify the lock maker and I did.
