Accoutrement Making Workshops
« on: July 26, 2022, 04:11:44 PM »
September 10-18, 2022 - multiple accoutrement making classes at Southern Ohio Artisan Workshops. This time around we're offering Scrimshaw with Billy Griner, Frame Handle Bowie Knife with Steve Auvenshine ( filling up quickly!), Belt Axe / Tomahawk forging with Rich McDonald, Hunting Pouch/ Haversack/ Woven Straps (and who knows what else they have up their sleeves) with Maryellen Pratt and Jeanne McDonald, Turkey Box Call with Ken Wood and Bowmaking with Matt Weatherholtz. We also have a Kibler Kit building class which is posted over in Gun Building.

All of the pertinent info including dates of individual classes is posted on the Southern Ohio Artisan Workshops website - https://www.southernohioartisanworkshops.com/fall-traditional-skills-week.html

Please note that all class prices you'll see on the website include the cost of onsite meals and lodging! Happy to answer any questions here, or you can request more info through the SOAW website.

Ian, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, I can't attend, but next year is wide open. Is it possible to get on a mailing list or something similar?

Best bet would be to go to the info request page on the website and check off the types of classes you are interested in, then in the comments / questions box mention you'd like to be notified about future workshops. The next Traditional Skills Week with a new group of classes should be in May of 2023.

Here are some photos of things we'll be making at the Fall Traditional Skills Week this September. Information on all the Fall classes is available on the Southern Ohio Artisan Workshops website -   https://www.southernohioartisanworkshops.com/fall-traditional-skills-week.html

I highly recommend these classes. Here are two hatchets I made at one of the classes (sorry for the lack of crisp focus). Great instructors and facility. You'll not be disappointed.
