Virginia Horn?
« on: August 07, 2022, 06:18:16 PM »
The idea for this horn came from one on page 146 of Grinslade's "Powder Horns Documents of History". It is listed as "uncertain origin but probably Virginia".
It is 15 1/2" around the outside curve and 12 1/2 tip-to-tip. The butt is Walnut held in by 7 wooden pegs. The finial is Hickory threaded 1/2-8 with a portion of the plug attached it came from an original shown here:

The two part horn screw tip is threaded 5/8-11.

A shooter 250 years ago would have been mighty proud to use this horn.
