Double set triggers

Good Morning,
Been out of the loop for about 10 years or so. A lot has changed since I was last building these long guns.

I am going to build me another VA style long gun. I have a nice piece of walnut from Freddy Harrison before he passed. Also up in the rack is a nice swamped 46" 54 cal competition Rice barrel that I got years ago at Dixons. Have always used Chambers locks but since I have been gone Jim Kibler has come up with his excellent CNC round faced lock. So just picked up one of those for this build. I will try my hand at forging out the iron hardware. Which brings me to triggers. I have a couple old Davis triggers, and single set North Star but looking for a high end set for this build. The profile of the Davis set is suitable, but triggers are kind of sloppy. NS is the wrong profile. I also have a set of Cain that are excellent but will require a good bit of rework for the correct profile. So who is making a good set of double throw triggers out there? Any new designs or offerings out since I have been last active? I did not see any triggers on Jim Kiblers web site. His quality seems to be very excellent, but do not see an offering.

Jim Kibler does have double-set triggers available on his site, the ones he uses on the southern mountain rifle, at $70 as I recall. They are drilled to fit the kit rifle and as he states, do not have extra stock on top of the trigger blades for a deeper or stouter rifle than the smr he built them for.

You might contact Bob Roller. When he was making locks, they were apparently second to none. I would assume the same quality of his triggers.

Thank you. I see that I totally missed those on his web site. Seems to be for his kit though and may not be the best for a custom build. Although they could be modified.

I do make a "Virginia style" set trigger with the rear trigger slanted back instead of being curved.It is a two lever trigger that will fire set or unset and no castings or sloppy fitting,It is 5 and 1/2" long and 3/8" wide and reflects the same quality as my locks did.

i have one of Bobs locks on a southern rifle, and i have a set of his southern triggers i have yet to put on a gun. and i can tell you they are the best!

Thank you for the endorsement of my work.I have more material on hand for the smaller SMR-Ohio triggers than I thought and only 2 ten inch bars for the Hawken triggers so when they are done I will not buy any more and concentrate on the smaller types and use up materials I have.When I get some more ready they will be posted here only and no other forums.The "Virginia style with the back laying rear trigger will be made by request only and no extra cost.All prices quoted will include the cost of USPS shipping which now is a few cents short of $10.

Wow that is some real craftsmanship! Maybe someday but I got several in the works to finish and that would certainly set me back in shop time. Impressive.

The methods shown in the tutorial posted by Curtis show methods that are THE reason machine tools were developed and while I admire all that work it is not my way and never has been.I am now using up material that I bought some time ago and when it;s gone I doubt if it wll be replaced.I like my  methods and at 86 would never regress to such methods as shown here.Same went for locks and I have yet to see any lock that was on an antique American gun I would want to copy.The work of Brazier and Stanton in England had a strong appeal to me and set the standards for lock making in the English speaking world.Good material of beneficial quality and precise measurements to me are everything.
