Semi-cool horns and ETC.

Not totally in the vein of originals but still OK, especially the small ones.  Actually, that small priming horn is a dandy horn IMO.



The bag is fit for a more sophisticated lady's afternoon in the woods.  My husband calls it "girlie".  I won't use it however.



And lastly, check out the coat.  I'm guessing deer skin, pretty nicely made.  Quill work on the back shoulders.  Neat little "bell like" buttons.  Soiled as it appears to have been worn not just hung in a closet.  Would make a fantastic decorative piece in the proper setting.

CAN THESE HIDE GARMENTS BE CLEANED....NOT TOTALLY, BUT JUST SPOT CLEANED??

Nice. The horns *are* semi-cool, the bag is a bit "sophisticated, "true, but resembles an original that was discussed elsewhere on this forum a few months back. The coat is cool, too. I have one somewhat similar that my wife sewed for me about 10 years ago. It is made of braintan deer, and yes it did get somewhat dirty. Actually it got black grease on it. I wiped off the grease as best as I could, scraped the exterior of the skin, and found some desert dirt to rub into it, that just about matched the color of the coat.
I have always heard, but have never tried this, that DRY corn meal rubbed onto the dirty spot on buckskin will clean it. Seems like it might be worth a try--the worst that might happen is you get some  dirty corn meal.

Ordinarily the horns, esp the large one and the bag would not be of interest but they came from a friend's estate.  I sort of feel like his presence is with us when these are displayed and discussed.  He would smile at that.

I will say the coat is a small.  Knowing both the husband and wife were shooters and frequent competitors at Friendship I figure the coat was hers.

There is certainly a lot of craftsmanship in the horns.  Once again I feel they were made for the deceased owner to his tastes by a friend.  The small ones are good IMO but the large one is not one that we would consider buying...except that they were the possessions of a friend and a reminder of his life and work.  His brother said to me at his memorial, "Please don't forget him".  We do not need possessions to achieve that but it's nice to have them.
