I have this 1/2 stock I would like help identifying. .28 cal, 5/8 42” barrel. No side plate. Lock bolt goes into tang

Your rifle has several details that suggest a Kentucky origin... or at least near the Ohio River. The signature is difficult to read and perhaps another shot of it with light at a different angle might help illuminate a couple letters a little better. From what little I can see of the name, one "kinda-sorta" possibility is Jake Clinkenbeard of Bourbon County.
