Does anyone use any liquid to swab between shots?

Thousands of target shooters use wet patches between shots to wipe the bore. Spit works. Moose milk works. Windshield washer fluid works. All used to wet patches. Then a dry batch, then re-load.

Many if not most of the teflon patch users swab between shots and do as Rich stated, run a dry patch down before reloading.

I normally don't, but a month or so ago I tried using isopropyl alcohol followed by 1 dry patch. Saw no real difference in loading or accuracy.

Yes, teflon patching, after each shot swab with black solve. Some then run a dry patch others load after the black solve, I load with "wet bore". Steve

I used "Black Solve" for all round ball shooting and it was on the patch I loaded with.My patches were military surplus from WW2/Korea and I bought a contractors trash bag full from Wes Kindig and used them for years after that.Is Black Solve still available? The type I used was
a concentrate and water was added and it looked like Prestone anti freeze.

Never, shoot all day and clean when I am done. Flintlocks are supposed to be fun. Nothing kills the fun like swabbing between shots.

Years ago I used a damp spit patch. Too many flash in the pans. When I stopped wiping between shots all the flash in the pans stopped.

When shooters swab between shots, some will push the fouling down and plug up the vent or flash channel. I think some of this is caused by using TOO large of a jag when swabbing. The jag can be turned down in diameter to help with this. I only have to swab between shots when using Teflon coated patching, never when using bear oil treated denim patching.

The Teflon coated patching is a very tightly woven material coated on one side with Teflon. No other lube is needed with the Teflon side towards the barrel. It does create more fouling so swabbing is advised.

Put the vent pick IN the flash hole and get rid of the "Poof in the pan"

All barrels are individuals. Some shoot better "clean" & some don't care. I recently found a .36 that shoots better when wiped after not more than 2 shots. Conventional wisdom used to be that groups tended to "climb" if a barrel got too dirty. Theory was that too much fouling resulted in increased pressures wh would affect velocity. I have personally had a barrel that would do that, but that was back in the 70s. Just another variable that you have to work out at the bench. That's one of the things I like about muzzleloading; experimentation & problem solving.

Ever shot any Lido or any other cheap powder? Anything under 40 cal you better take the time to wipe and pick between shots…..you gun makers keep me broke, so I gotta save $$ where i can😂😂😂

Bob, Black-Solve concentrate is available from Dixie Gun Works.
Jakob, "Teflon patches" are 100% cotton patch material coated with a thin layer of Teflon. It's an expensive patching option for shooting a patched roundball that is chosen by some competition shooters who want to wring out the last little bit of potential from their rifle/load combination.
For day-to-day offhand shooting, I use a spray on liquid lube. I've observed very little difference on target scores, loading difficulty or anything else with or without wiping. IF you're going to wipe, Smylee Grouch is correct. There are things like jag size and "wiping" patch thickness that have to be optimized for your barrel and load combination to avoid the issues mentioned. Once you get those parameters identified...wiping won't cause any problems.
For myself, the only shooting I do where I consistently wipe between EVERY shot is when I'm shooting off a rest. Chunk, or Bench.
I have a "procedure" I follow in those cases. The results speak for themselves.

I was taught by a national level target shooter. He uses Teflon and wipes between shots.

I discovered that there is no solvent for Teflon, and that worried me. No way other than mechanical scrubbing to get it out of a barrel. Just something to think about. For a while I was getting tiny brown "cornflakes" when cleaning the bore. This was flakes of heat-ironed Teflon.

I switched to Daryl's wet-lubing advice, and found my barrels actually shoot better wet lubed. Easier to ram the ball/patch down too.
Less muss and fuss for me. Of course, I am just one person and I know others have great success with wiping and/or Teflon.

Just passing that along for whoever it may help.

Thats an interesting point about cleaning after using Teflon coated patches. I used those patches for years and from three different suppliers and never noticed what you talked about. It might have been there but I just didn't notice it. The rifles that I used it in all shot slightly tighter groups with the Teflon patchs, and loaded easy. One did have a false muzzle. I used then and still use a tight combo of denim with bear oil, Tracks lube, or Hoppes #9 on all off hand or hunting loads and none of them need to be wiped between shots unless I take a break and the barrel dries out some.

I use a mix of Windex ammonia formula and Murphy's oil soap.
Not my idea but wish it were
Big bottle ammonia Windex or Original Windex ( got to be ammonia type, evaporates fast) and 1 cup Murphy's oil soap and mix.
I wipe every shot, cleans and easier to load
