New Pistol
« on: August 29, 2022, 08:28:32 PM »
Just completed this 40 caliber. It's a 10" swamped Bob Hoyt barrel paired with a Bob Roller lock on a nice piece of Tom Fornicola sugar maple. I'll probably checker the grip when the finish cures some. Gonna be fun to shoot this one! Thanks for giving a look.

Good looking pistol in spite of the lock :D :D :D. That lock is the externals of the Chet Shoults Ketland with my mechanism.Does it have a date under my name or USA?If it has a linked mainspring it's 1970 or later.I made a lot of these over the years after the first one in 1962.
Thank you for posting this.

Bob, it says 73, I assume that is 1973. The lock was recently purchased here. It had never been installed but did require some cleanup. It functions beautifully. Thanks.

Beautiful pistol Ed.   Love the lines and finishes.  You should be proud.

It looks like you and David Rase were on the same track on American pistols.  Here is one he made in 2014.  The lines look like friendly cousins.   :-)  Photo is from Art's blog.

God Bless,  Marc

Ed,
Sorry about the slow reply. The "73" does mean 1973.I should have included a month number but never
did.

I like the more rounded contour of the stock. I have been thinking of building one with a smoothbore octagon to round barrel to go with my Fowler. Can anyone tell me what style of pistol this is so I can get more info on it?
