1770-1790 Berks county horn
« on: September 02, 2022, 12:00:39 AM »
Picked up this little beauty after the CLA, I’ve been told its a Berks county horn circa 1770-1790. Any further help and information would be appreciated

Heck of a nice horn and sure looks like Berks. It appears to have an applied collar and am wondering if the spout unscrews? Good chance if it does, it was somewhat longer once upon a time. lucky find for sure and it has loads of character. By the way, what did the experts say about your horn that had two lobes? Still trying to understand that one. Thank you for posting photos of your new find. We all really appreciate seeing them. The CLA trip was a good one for you.

Nice horn, I'm thinking the tip is a home made replace for a lost/broken screw tip.
It was nice to meet you at the show.

It was very nice to finally meet yourself as well sir. And I’m tempted to agree with you.

Another horn with a great, original finish, honest wear, and pleasing shape. I'm wondering it what's left of the spout tip is integral with the horn spout and not part of a screw tip. It looks like the collar "bends" a little with the normal curvature of the horn, as if carved in place.
