Another Rammer Question
« on: September 08, 2022, 07:14:20 PM »
There is a good bend in this rod I would like to straighten out and hopefully without removing any of the patina.  The area that is bent measure .375 inch.
Any suggestions on how this could/should be done.

thanks and stay safe ☺

I would place it between three brass or brass/plastic covered pins in a machinist's vise and apply pressure where and as needed.  The challenge would be keeping from rolling, but that is easily accomplished with a pair of vise grips and suitable protection.  It is an effective and controllable way to do tweaking where and as much as needed.  I can likely post a pic if you have difficulty visualizing it.

Hi,
Here a couple of pics.  Adjust pin positions as required.

Perfect and thanks again for your input and help.
I was thinking of my big brass hammer or a press,
but I have a vice and it looks like a great idea.
