Is the "Old Eynsford" brand of powder essentially the same as "regular" GOEX?
Old Eynsford. Mad Monk told me he thought that “something new had been added” to this stuff. It was a little too good for the charcoal that Goex used. And the smoke smelled different. But I think he was too sick to do the research. Never, ever, use pyrodex. 777 is not or at least less corrosive but may been a booster of black to work really well even with normal percussion caps. Its intended for inlines with shotgun primers.
Swiss is a very good powder and 1.5f would would well with the conicals or even Fg. Its very much like the old premium powders of the 19th c.
Goex or what every name they come up with should stay in business at some level. Unless the military has found a replacement for BP in boosters and fuses. But I don’t. But since its imported one has to keep an eye on the distributors to get it when its there.
Buffalo Arms in Idaho is my go to since its close and I could even drive over if I needed to. But again it comes and goes.
